Natural and Unnatural

So I thought, hey, my laptop is here in front of the TV, why not blog about what I’m watching? Stupendous!

First of all, I’ll mention this YouTube clip Daza showed me. It’s always interesting to see how unexpectedly perfect nature is at certain details. Also, David Attenborough is a great guy to listen to, I will be very sad indeed when he’s gone.

On the especially unnatural side of things, I’m watching Super Size Me. It’s late and I should be getting sleep for tomorrow, but I’m interested in *gasp* keeping up with current topics. Even watching the first few scenes, I’m absolutely mortified at how greasy and bloated America is. Seriously, we don’t even have the “Supersize” option here, and I’m terribly glad we don’t. Some of those advertisements I’m seeing in this documentary shock and horrify me. The school lunches and children commercials are just plain creepy.

I’ve known these things are unhealthy, but it’s creepy how blind most of America is to how much unhealthy food is surrounding them. I really hope Australia keeps away from becoming a mini-America.

Edit: Apparently I haven’t run into a supersize because they eliminated it. Good for them, all it took was an unfavourable documentary that threatened their sales.

Wii Sports

The Uni was having a Wii Sports Tourney at the campus today, and since it’s a) right down the road, and b) I haven’t tried the console out yet, I thought it was an awesome idea. I was nervous at first, but it was really quick to get into it and just let loose :P I stayed the whole time there, which was good, since they only had two Uni-owned Wiimotes there. That Wiimote I bought without a console doesn’t seem so stupid now. :P It was good to be able to make sure four-player fun was happening, and I got to create my own Mii as a reward. XD

I can’t wait to get the console, it really reminded me that games are supposed to about simple solid fun. Waving your arms around in a silly manner is surprisingly awesome. Perhaps it’s just the fact that there was a party-sized amount of people and a giant wall-sized projector screen involved, but it was enough to keep me entertained all day long. Granted, when I play it on my regular ordinary TV it might not be as grand, but I still want it :P

Enough said, I’ll be going there tomorrow for the second tourney. They need my extra Wiimote, right? XD

New Layout

in Wordpress

I’ve been fitting my new layout into wordpress for the past couple of days. If you look, I’ve added a theme switcher option to the sidebar and meta strip.

The new layout is quite bland and is lacking image decorations at the moment, but you can still check out the nifty time and date features I have there.

Please note, the new theme is incomplete, so don’t expect much functionality other than the main page. I’ll work on getting the other features (comments, search, archives, etc) working soon.

In the meantime, feel free to give me any suggestions on how to improve the new layout that I have so far.
